WAVE RETREAT FAQ
What kind of kiteboarding experience do I need to join this retreat?
Kiters on this retreat should be independent in the water and be able to ride and stay upwind. They should also be confident with self rescue and being in the waves without a kite or board. Your coaches can give you a refresher on riding safely in waves if needed.
Do I need a visa or any vaccinations to travel to Peru?
Visitors from the EU, USA, Canada, and Latin America do not need to organize a visa in advance to travel to Peru. Visitors from these locations will receive a visa on arrival. Please note that many countries require 6 months validity on your passport to enter.
Can you accommodate my dietary needs?
Yes, we can accommodate for most dietary needs including vegetarian, gluten free, and other allergies. Please be sure to contact Johanna with your requirements 30 days before to request a specific meal plan.

How many people will be on my retreat?
The Cusco Yoga + Adventure Retreat is a co-ed trip with a blend of solo travelers and couples. The average group size at a retreat is 6-10 (with 10 being the maximum).
Do I have to participate in all the activities?
We encourage everyone to take part in all of the scheduled activities including the yoga an meditation so you can make the most of the adventure. Can I buy or rent kite gear in Peru?
If you don't have the gear you need, there may be limited gear available for rental from the kite school in the area. To buy, gear is alot more expensive in Peru and difficult to get.
Is this trip for wave riders only or can I bring a twintip?
While this trip is designed to get kiters into the waves and progressing on the wave board, riders on twin tips are also welcome. Your coaches are also experienced at coaching twin tip riders. The focus will still be on progression in the waves and board skills for riding downwind and slashing waves.
What is the wind like in Peru? What size of kites should I bring?
The average wind range for this time of the year (September) is between 16 and 22 knots. Of course, mother nature is always in charge and anything can happen! At a minimum, we recommend bringing the kite sizes you would normally ride in this wind range. If you'd like to play it safe, bring more sizes just in case.
Can I book a private room with my non-kiteboarding friend or partner?
Yes, you can bring your friend or partner that is not a kiteboarder. You'll be able to connect at mealtimes and they can participate in all non-kiting activities during the retreat including yoga, meditation, and group excursions.
Will I be able to get photo or video of myself kiting in Peru?
There will be a photographer/videographer on the beach (and off!) during much of your retreat to capture the experience. After the trip, you'll get to see the retreat highlight video and access to photos that you can download and share with your friends and family. If you would like a personalized video made or to book a private photo session during your retreat, that can be arranged with the photographer/videographer while you are in Peru.
What will happen in a mixed level group of kiters?
We want to make sure that everyone gets the opportunity to progress at the pace that they want, while encouraging you to take it to the next level! With profressional coaching by Luke and Gary and a support team available, we'll be able to split up the group if needed to ensure everyone gets the attention they need. With video coaching days on our schedule, we'll make sure that no matter your level - you will have the opportunity to progress your riding.
