Gyan Mudra

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

Gyan Mudra gives rise to the root chakra (first chakra located at the base of the spine) reducing tension and depression, Gyan Mudra is quite calming and spiritually awakening, It aids in alleviating headache and hypertension, it stimulates the air element in the body, which ultimately leads to an increase in the memory power, nervous system and pituitary gland production.

There is so much to Gyan Mudra and the benefits of the mind; It increases the level of concentration, builds mental power and sharpens the brain, reduces negativity of the mind. If done regularly, your mental and psychological disorders such as anger, stress, anxiety, depression, and even insomnia can be improved considerably.

This pose is performed by touching the index finger with the thumb while keeping the other three fingers straight. It is suggested to practice Gyan Mudra 35 to 40 minutes at a time daily.

on a personal note

Gyan Mudra was the very first Mudra I learned 30 years ago, I used it while surfing and tandem surfing, when I was afraid, excited or agitated, back then, I didn't even know its name...I was inspired to learn about it... and now, I can share this beautiful Mudra with you that not only feels good, it is so much more...
